“The weather was perfect for a stroll” – one of this week’s blind daters. Wasn’t it just! This week blessed us with some wonderful springtime weather, but was this week’s blind date all blue skies and sunshine? Read on to find out!
The blind daters were set to meet at The Opera Cafe, Walton Street. Unlike some of the previous blind dates for this series, the logistics of this meeting seemed significantly better managed…! One blind dater was told to look out for ‘a green coat’, which made the sighting of his company for the afternoon smooth sailing. In fact, this ‘green coat’ made a very good first impression on the Mansfielder. He told The Blue that he applauded his date’s fashion sense noting that “she was dressed with intention clearly given to each bit of her outfit”. The student from Christ Church had a rather different first impression of her date, with the distinguishing feature being his…“earphones with wires”.
Both daters went into The Opera Cafe with no expectations for the date whatsoever. However, each dater hoped for, respectively, “an interesting conversation” and “a chilled chat with a stranger”. Luckily enough, after a stroll in the sunshine with their coffees, both aims were fulfilled. The Christ Church student described her date as “chill” and the Mansfielder thought his dating companion “wouldn’t be dull in a social interaction”. So, off to a great start!
Yeah, okay, I was just making the most of the positive outcome while it lasted. In truth, the daters didn’t find a romantic spark and won’t be going on a second date. BUT, I reckon we might have a friendship opportunity here which is better than nothing! Both daters said that they found their experience of the blind date “fun” and “pleasant” with some really interesting conversations.
Love might not come out of The Blue, but friendship very much might!
