Oxford SU have announced extended opening hours and relaxed rules on alcohol consumption for their Student Room Booking service.

Oxford University Student Union have announced changes to their room booking service, aiming to increase the available spaces for committees and any student organised event. The rooms are now available to book until 11pm, and opening hours have been extended to include weekends.

Regulations on alcohol have also changed. Students will now be able to bring and consume alcoholic drinks during events held in one of the booked spaces. To do so, students will be required to sign an Alcohol Policy and pay a refundable deposit.

There are two small meeting rooms available for booking, which can be joined into one large room which can hold a maximum of 30 people. There is also a bookable Social Space on the ground floor of the SU. All rooms have a TV with an HDMI port to connect laptops. Students are allowed to bring food and drink into all rooms.

Anvee Bhutani, the SU President, said: “I am so happy to be delivering on my manifesto pledge of making SU space more accessible for student societies to have meetings and events. Especially in recent times due to COVID-19, colleges have been especially restrictive on room booking, so I’m glad that the SU will be able to serve as more of a hub for students to have activities and continue to stay active. I hope students take full advantage of the SU room booking this term.”

Room booking requests can be made through the Oxford SU website.
