At 9:24pm BST, Oxford SU announced that Michael-Akolade Ayodeji won the Hilary 2022 Oxford SU Presidential election with 1107 votes in the final round, ahead of the nearest opponent, Kelsey Trevett, with 757 votes. 3073 votes were cast.

Six candidates stood to be President in this year’s Oxford SU election. In his manifesto, Ayodeji, a third-year PPEist at University College, member of the Class Act and Disability campaigns and incoming President of the Oxford Union for Trinity Term 2022, described his priorities of introducing a more inclusive hardship fund process, improving provisions for neurodiverse people, and auditing student nightclubs for safety.

Ayodeji will serve as President of Oxford SU for the 2022-23 academic year, where their primary priorities are expected to include improving student welfare, overseeing the transition from the coronavirus years, and tackling the climate crisis.
