I didn’t really want anyone to know I was taking a photo, right up until the flash went off. I like when I catch someone by surprise and I get an authentic moment on film. The Greek island of Ios at the end of the summer was the backdrop to these photos of my friends, taken on a Canon Mate Discovery (35mm).
Something about the film I was using muted the bright colours slightly, but I love the effect it has made. The photos look soft and warm, like a memory. I think my favourite is either the burnt sunset coming through the doorway to our room, or all of them lying by the pool, sleeping.
Ios is beautiful, they are beautiful, the summer was beautiful.
