The Oxford PPE Society is set to launch its Michaelmas Term 2022 termcard today. The termcard includes a variety of online and in-person speaker events, as well as the continuation of their “Bottles and Banter” events, which were introduced in Hilary Term 2022.
Bottles and Banter was designed to be a non-partisan alternative to other political societies’ events, such as Beer and Bickering, Port and Policy, Rum and Revolution, and Spirited Discussions. The event combines political debates with light-hearted socialisation, without specific party affiliations.
The Michaelmas termcard also includes several speaker events, ranging from economists and academics to politicians. Speakers set to attend this term include former Leader of the Conservative Party Michael Howard, academic and economist Jeffrey Sachs, and Europe-China correspondent at the Financial Times Yuan Yang. Other events scheduled for the term include Political Lobbying with Atlas Partners and Gatehouse Geopolitical Consulting.
Society president Andrew Smailes said: “I’m so excited to announce the Michaelmas 2022 termcard for Oxford PPE Society. Michaelmas is always the most important term for shaping the year ahead, and this term we have an exciting range of events lined up, from a freshers’ college bar crawl to speaker events with Michael Howard and Earthling Ed.”
