Plain roundabout in Cowley has been cordoned off after reports of a collision between a lorry and a cyclist earlier today.

A serious incident, reported to involve a collision between a lorry and a cyclist, has led to police cordoning off Magdalen Bridge and Plain Roundabout. Multiple police cars, ambulance service and fire service are all in attendance.

The area where the accident took place has been covered by a green tent but a large yellow lorry is clearly visible at the scene. Thames Valley Police are appealing for witnesses.

Road closures were in place for several hours along High Street, St Clement’s Street, Cowley Road and Iffley Road but are now beginning to reopen. Buses, however, are not operating in either direction.

Pedestrian access was also stopped for a time before access to Iffley Road was resumed via Magdalen College School. More normal access to Iffley Road ahs now been resumed though pedestrians may not stop near the accident site.

This is a developing story and likely to be updated over the coming hours.
